Crazy weather!! One day it is 70 degrees and some are playing golf and the next day we have 3 inches of sleet on the ground! Let's hope this is the last of it and it will warm-up so we can all meet again at Meadow Brook and hit the links! And concerning Meadow Brook, we sure you have all heard the news (and many rumors) regarding the school district wanting the land and just so you know, Meadow Brook is still there, still open for golf and will be for a long time! As Bruce says "it's not for sale!" And we are glad about that!

To kick off our 2007 season, here are our usual reminders:

• Breakfast Meeting: Our annual breakfast meeting will take place at a new location. It will be held on APRIL 16th, 8:30 A.M. at NUDY'S CAFÉ, BRIDGE STREET, PHOENIXVILLE. See the attached directions to Nudy's. After the meeting, weather permitting, there will be a practice round at Meadow Brook.
• League play begins: Monday, April 23rd Saturday Players: April 21st
• League Dues: League dues for 2007 are $35.00. Checks are payable to PHAGL and can be mailed to Trish D'Ascanio, 2070 Hawthorne Place, Paoli, PA 19301. And as always, during the season, each player contributes $1 per week, when they play.
• League Day: Play typically begins on Mondays around 8:00 a.m., though in the hot summer months, many start as early as 7:30am to beat the heat of the day. See below regarding Saturday play. If it rains on league day, or if Monday is a holiday, you have until Wednesday to get in that week's game.
• Ringer Board: Only your lowest gross score and fewest putts for each hole from league day play and Gotwals Tournament matches are to be recorded on the ringer board. Please be sure all 18 holes are marked.
• Scorecards: Please use last names (we have more than 1 Mary, Marie, Connie, Peg in our league!). Circle your birdies (or eagles!). If you are not participating in the weekly game please note this on the scorecard. Remember, if you get a birdie while playing a Gotwals match, create a 2nd scorecard and place it in the PHAGL box so that we can get your birdie on the birdie tree!
• Handicaps: All members must have a handicap established at Meadow Brook. The handicap fees (payable to Meadow Brook) are the same as last year. The fees are: $10 before 5/1, $15 after 5/1. New members do not need to have an established handicap to join the league or to start playing in our weekly games. New member handicaps will be established after 5 scores are entered in the computer.
• Saturday Play: Tee times are required for Saturday play and are made 7 days in advance. Please call Pattie Hagan (610-935-2565) the weekend prior if you will be playing the next Saturday.

And now for some new business:

• "9 Holers": During our Awards Luncheon a request was made to incorporate a 9-hole group on our schedule and we've done that! On the schedule, there is 1 game per month that is shaded which means it is a game for both the 18-holers and the 9-Holers. To be a "9-holer" your handicap for 18 holes should be 36+ or you physically just can't play 18 holes. THOUGH ONLY 1 GAME PER MONTH IS DESIGNATED, WE WANT YOU TO PLAY EVERY WEEK!! It's just that on those designated weeks, we hope to have a 9-hole winner just like we do for the 18-hole games. Since we don't have any 9-hole handicaps at this time, for those games requiring a handicap we will just use 1/2 of your existing 18-hole handicap. We are hoping it will be a success so we can expand it next year.
• Gotwals Tournament: Also mentioned at our luncheon ----- participation in this season-long match play tournament will now be done via a sign-up sheet. We hope that everyone will consider participating in this tournament, as it has been a tradition in our league for most of the years the league has been in existence!
• Membership Drive: We are always looking for new members! Enclosed you will find a couple of contact information cards you can place in your purse to hand out if you meet someone that would be interested in joining our league.
